Unvented hot water cylinders are a modern development of the old-style copper water tank which worked with a cold-water storage tank in a loft space above it.
Unvented cylinders are fed via your water main and therefore don’t need a storage tank in the loft. The benefits to these cylinders is that they are far more efficient, with quicker heat recovery times and increased insulation. They also provide increased water pressure (depending on your supply) compared to gravity fed systems.
